Later on we went to see the Royal Palace which is so much bigger than I thought it was going to be. This palace has been the residence for the kings and queens of Spain for hundreds of years but now is used for special occasions and meetings that are held by the king. The royal family thought that the palace was way too big to make it their home and wanted something more cozy so they moved into what was then their summer palace which is about 20 minutes away from the center of Madrid and is still ENORMOUS and not small, surely does not look like a "summer palace" lol.
We ended up running into the coolest market on the way to dinner and decided to go in and check it out. It was packed, so packed we had a hard time walking around and seeing what it was all about. There were no seats open and lines for almost every both. Each little shop had its own specialty. There was a wine kiosk with all types of Spanish wine, a cheese one, one for different types of breads, different types of olives and pickles, sweets, baked goods, sandwiches, sushi, mussels, and pretty much everything else you can think of. We had such a great time walking around and deciding what we wanted to try and ended up with what you saw in the picture. I tried 2 different types of olives that I had never had before, and some awesome sun dried tomatoes. We also waited about 40 minutes in the line for the cheese kiosk where we chose 5 different kinds from probably 40-50 different types of cheese and got some french bread with it. We then headed to the wine kiosk where we both got Spanish wines to go with our delicious appetizers.
We had such a great time and after having a little bite to eat walked around and enjoyed all of the street art that the city had to offer. You will always find people playing instruments, doing magic, singing, dancing, doing crazy stunts, or playing different characters just walking around town. It is the best feeling to be able to share all of what is amazing about Spain with my boyfriend and we really did enjoy every single minute we got to spend together in Burgos and in Madrid.
