Visit to Salamanca

HEY EVERYONE!!
Early saturday after spending the night out on the town we all headed to Salamanca. The city is about 3 hours away from Burgos and is a city that has been named by the UNESCO as "Patrimonio de la Humanidad", this means it is one of the most important cities in Spain and its history is very important to the entire world. The city has many different influences from the Roman era as well as the Renaissance era and it was surprisingly easy to see which architecture is which through the different arches/types of doors/ and art that are all engraved in the building.

We had such a great time there and ate lots of really good food! We also were able to see 5 different weddings and lots of brides and grooms walking around town taking their pictures. I WANT TO GET MARRIED IN SPAIN! I mean looking at the cathedrals and how beautiful they allllllll are it is crazy not to think about! People have to sign up with at least 2-3 years in advance to be able to get a date at the cathedral in Salamanca, and at least 2 to be able to be married at the cathedral in Burgos (you better watch out Alex, this might mean troubllllle for you!!!!). INSANE ISN'T? Having a dream wedding at the any of the cathedrals here also doesn't come cheap, and all of the photography/videos that are to be taken during the ceremony have to be taken by the photographer hired by the church (I would not like that at all! lol). People give up the ability to choose their own photographer, and wait years longer then they would have just to be able to be married in one of the cathedrals. To have a dream wedding here, I probably wouldn't think twice about the photographer now that I think about it!

We spent all day in Salamanca and saw all of the history the town had to offer. Of course I had to do a little shopping! Was able to get some souvenirs for friends and family, as well as some decorative things I want to take with me when I graduate and have my own apartment.

I am going to try and lay low for the next weekend since we have been traveling every single weekend since we got here and I AM DEAD. I am so excited for my parents and grandma to get here on Sept.20th and to be able to show them everything I have fallen in love with. I have a couple of really fun things planned as a surprise for them that I think they are all going to love, maybe a trip to Bilbao if they are lucky :) Love you guys and can't wait to see you!!

Hope everyone is doing great, XOXO from Spain.
